UCC Mourns Loss of Veteran Journalist, Comrade Isaac Ombe

The United Correspondents Chapel (UCC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic death of veteran journalist, Comrade Isaac Ombe, who lost his life in a ghastly motor accident on the 30th January, 2026.

Ombe reportedly died when an 18-seater bus conveying passengers to Ofoni Federated Community in Sagbama Local Government Area (LGA) for the burial of the late Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudiakpo, was involved in the fatal accident.

The Chapel’s Chairman, Ekaunkumo Amgbare, and Secretary, Chris Mark, in a statement, described Ombe as a journalist par excellence who worked with exemplary dedication and distinction.

The statement noted that the late journalist would be remembered for his distinguished career, which spanned several reputable media outfits, including The Nation, National Mirror, The Comet, News Express, The Verbatim, and, until his sudden demise, as Press Secretary to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority (NDBDA).

The UCC further described Ombe as a passionate media practitioner who carried out his duties with integrity, truth, and professionalism.

The UCC extended its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family, the Bayelsa State NUJ, friends, and the entire people of Bayelsa State.

The UCC prayed that Almighty God would grant the Ombe family the courage and strength to bear the irreparable loss and that the soul of the departed colleague would find eternal repose in the bosom of the Lord.
