Turnah Dismisses Expulsion Claim, Reaffirms Loyalty to Wike

The South-South Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Caretaker Chairman of the Bayelsa State chapter, George Turnah, has dismissed reports of his alleged expulsion from the party, describing them as false and baseless.

Turnah, in a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Kelvin Egbo, urged the public to disregard the announcement made in Ibadan, insisting it had no legitimacy or backing from the party’s authorized organs.

He described the claim as “a pitiful display of desperation by political opportunists and mischief-makers,” adding that it amounted to “good riddance to bad rubbish.”

Turnah stressed that the PDP has not convened any national convention since the 2022 exercise, which was solely conducted to elect the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections. He noted that the party’s constitution clearly outlines disciplinary procedures, including the requirement of a fair hearing, none of which was observed in the purported expulsion.

“It should be noted that no legitimate PDP National Convention has been held anywhere in Nigeria since the 2022 presidential primary. The PDP Constitution unambiguously outlines offences and the corresponding disciplinary processes, ensuring the right to a fair hearing before any action is taken,” he stated.

Reaffirming his position within the party, Turnah maintained that he remains a bonafide member and duly elected official with unwavering commitment to the PDP’s ideals. He further declared that his loyalty to the national leader of the party and Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, remains “steadfast and unshakeable.”

Following the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan on 15–16 November 2025, the party’s leadership purportedly took sweeping disciplinary action, expelling 11 high-profile members, including Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu and former Governor Ayo Fayose, on grounds of “anti-party activities.”
