Police Arrest Six in Yenagoa for Armed Robbery

Operatives of the Zonal SWAT Unit, Zone 16 Headquarters, Yenagoa, have arrested six suspects in connection with a case of armed robbery and criminal conspiracy following a petition by one Frank Danola, a native of Otueke community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gunn Ewhoborwo Emonena, in a statement, informed that the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16 Headquarters, AIG Johnson Oluwole Adenola, psc, ordered the arrest after receiving a petition dated September 15, 2025. The suspects were identified as Success Sochima Linus (21), Anas Dahiru (29), Abubakar Daura (22), Dan Michael (23), Ibrahim Abdullahi (27), and Mac-Ake David Alibator (24).

It also disclosed that on September 10, 2025, at about 2:32 a.m., the victim, while on his way to buy barbecue along Saptex Junction in Yenizue-Epie community, Yenagoa, was attacked by the suspects who were armed with a gun. They allegedly dispossessed him of his iPhone 12 Pro Max valued at ₦550,000 and a gold bracelet weighing 19.2 grams, worth ₦1.75 million. The suspects also reportedly forced him at gunpoint to transfer ₦12,000 to an Opay account belonging to one of them, Success Sochima Linus.

The statement noted that during investigation, operatives recovered the stolen iPhone 12 Pro Max from the suspects as an exhibit, while efforts are ongoing to conclude the case before charging them to court.

AIG Adenola reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property within Zone 16, in line with his eight-step agenda aimed at strengthening policing and community safety.

The statement further conveyed the assurance of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, who reiterated the Force’s dedication to maintaining peace and security across the country and urged residents to continue supporting the police to achieve a crime-free society.
