Olugbobiri Gets New CDC Executive

Chief Allen Otobo has been sworn in as the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman of Olugbobiri Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The ceremony, held at the community town square, produced a twelve-member executive council that will oversee the community’s affairs for the next two years.

Although the process experienced delays due to disputes that escalated into a court case and required the intervention of the Bayelsa State Government, normalcy has now been restored.

The Paramount Ruler of Olugbo Kingdom, HRH Clifford Mangiri, who also led journalists and security personnel around the community to inspect properties damaged during the disagreement, appealed for calm and urged residents to support the new leadership.

Chief Allen Otobo, the newly inaugurated CDC Chairman, appreciated the state government and the community’s leadership for ensuring the successful conduct of the inauguration. He noted that the event marks “a new dawn for the community” and pledged to work towards unity and development. Chief Paul Ajiki also appreciated the Bayelsa State Government for restoring peace in the community, expressing hope that the new leadership will consolidate on the progress achieved.

Also speaking, Dr. Fekosufa Amaebi, Community Development Officer at the Bayelsa Ministry of Community Developmen who represented the Commissioner, Hon. Alfred Belemote said the peaceful conduct of the ceremony shows that the community is aligned with the government’s message of peace and cooperation.

In a community where development thrives on unity and accountable leadership, the emergence of a new CDC executive offers Olugbobiri a fresh opportunity to strengthen grassroots participation, rebuild trust, and drive meaningful progress signaling a renewed hope for inclusive growth and a stronger, more organized future for the people.
