Okpoama Youth Movement Celebrates Success of IYD, Appreciates Supporters, Condemns Gov’t, IOCs’ Absence

The Okpoama Kingdom Youth Movement has expressed profound gratitude to Almighty God and to all those who contributed to the success of the 3rd Edition of the International Youth Day Celebration, a 4-day programme held from August 12th to 17th, 2025. Organized by the Okpoama Kingdom Youth Movement, the event was held under the theme “Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation Through Technology and Partnerships” and brought together young people across the Kingdom to engage in innovation, dialogue, and cultural expression.

In a statement by its President, Engr. Seiyefa Felix Ben-Basuo, the Movement acknowledged the vital support of individuals, institutions, and community stakeholders who helped ensure the programme was impactful and memorable.Commended for their support are Hon. Justice Daniel Ayah, Chief Nyananyo Tubo-Miela, Mr Oye Tekenah, Hon. Febo Lucky (Chairman of Brass LGA), Mr Dongudogio Bokolo, High Chief Nathan Egba-Dienegha, and Mr Idubamo Monigha for their active involvement and encouragement.

Others whose contributions are deeply appreciated include the Disciplinary Committee, Mr Kenze Pogo, Mr Ingokunyo Jim Bob, Mr Emma Best Debo, AIL Infrastructure Company, Hon. Edward Brigidi, and Mrs Pagaebi Ikoko.Also recognized are Mr Ayebaberepelenyo Jonah, Mr Nimi Munasuonyo, Hon. Belemote Alfred Watson, Hon. Timi Agala Omubo, Engr. Samuel Alabi, Mr Daniel Alabi, Rev. Obegha Oworibo, Mr Baranaye Victor, and the OKDU Lagos Branch, for their continued support of youth development in the Kingdom.

The Okpoama Kingdom Youth Movement, however, expressed displeasure over the lack of support and participation from the Bayelsa State Government and the International Oil Companies operating in Brass LGA, despite having formally written to them ahead of the programme.

Their absence at such a significant youth-focused event was noted with concern.The Movement reaffirmed its commitment to promoting youth development and calls on all relevant stakeholders to demonstrate greater responsiveness and collaboration in future programmes that serve the interest of young people and the Kingdom as a whole.
