NYSC DG URGES GRADUATES TO BE INVESTORS, JOB CREATORS NOT JOB SEEKERS

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has charged Nigerian graduates to embrace entrepreneurship, innovation, and global competitiveness by becoming job creators, investors, and certified professionals, rather than relying solely on paid employment.

Brigadier General Nafiu, gave the charge in Abuja during the 4th meeting of the Scheme with heads of professional and regulatory bodies. He commended their support in ensuring a smooth mobilisation process, adding that professional skills and certifications would greatly enhance academic qualifications.

“For 52 years, the NYSC has remained committed to national unity and development. Our graduates cannot merely be job seekers but must be job creators, investors and globally certified professionals,” he said.

The NYSC boss assured that the Corps would continue to supply manpower to the nation while repositioning the service year as a hub of professional excellence, ethical leadership, and entrepreneurial innovation.

“The future of Nigeria is in the hands of our youths. How we equip them today will determine the prosperity, unity and global competitiveness of our nation tomorrow,” he added.

Also speaking, the Director of Corps Mobilisation, Abubakar Muhammed, noted that collaboration with regulatory agencies has improved mobilisation procedures over the years, though he admitted there are still gaps to address.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education, JAMB, NECO, NBTE, and other key institutions
