The Amadabo of Moko-Ama, HRH Moses Theophilus-Kenibara VII, has condemned the gruesome murder of Mr. Collins Kuromo-Ayebaye, popularly known as Laku, in Egweama and Beletiama communities of Brass Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The victim was allegedly killed by Mr. Kina John, who is currently in security custody.
In a statement, HRH Theophilus-Kenibara VII expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved families and assured the people that justice would be served. As Chairman of the Akassa Clan Council of Chiefs and the Ijaw National Congress, Central Zone, he appealed for calm and urged traditional rulers to caution their subjects to prevent further violence.
He praised the swift intervention of the Bayelsa State Government under Governor Douye Diri and Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, whose deployment of security agencies helped avert a wider breakdown of law and order. He also commended the delegation led by Hon. Dr. Daniel Charles for engaging directly with the affected communities and families.
The Amadabo further called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr. Collins’ death and the earlier killing of Madam Amazige Ayebaesin, another indigene of Egweama. He stressed the need for stakeholders to guide their wards toward moral conduct and for the communities to remain hopeful that justice would prevail.
His remarks, combining condemnation and a call for calm, aim to restore peace and stability in Brass LGA and across Bayelsa State while ensuring that those responsible for the heinous crimes are held accountable.
