Fubara Urges New SSG Benibo Anabraba to Serve with Humility and Integrity

Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Joseph Fubara, has urged the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Benibo Anabraba, to carry out his duties with humility, integrity, and dedication to public service.

Anabraba, a lawyer and former principal officer of the Rivers State House of Assembly, was screened and confirmed by the State Assembly on Monday. He was reportedly nominated by his predecessor, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara reminded the new SSG that his appointment was an act of divine favour and not a result of personal effort.

“Positions of leadership are not attained by our own human efforts but by God’s grace in our lives,” the governor said.

Fubara described the position as a rare privilege, urging Anabraba to uphold the dignity of his office and protect the interests of Rivers people.

“Guard that office with honour. Discharge your duties with respect. Protect the interest of Rivers State,” he advised.

The governor cautioned against using the office for showmanship or unnecessary display of power, noting that leadership is a call to duty and service.

“This opportunity is not for show or display of power, it’s a call to duty,” Fubara emphasized.

He also expressed confidence in Anabraba’s capacity to perform, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to peace and accountability in governance.

“We are emerging from a very difficult period and must reassure our people that we mean well for them,” Fubara added. “By the grace of God, do your work well and help us succeed in this assignment.”
