The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, Victor Cletus, for allegedly impersonating a medical doctor and exploiting a young woman he met on Snapchat.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the suspect who works as a cleaner at Babcock University Teaching Hospital posed as a qualified surgeon to gain the victim’s trust. He contacted her on Snapchat and claimed he could treat a lump she had discovered in her right breast.
Taking advantage of her vulnerability, Cletus reportedly demanded money as a supposed surgical fee and instructed her to meet him on Nov. 18, 2025 for the procedure. Instead of providing medical help, he allegedly sexually assaulted her and withdrew funds from her Opay account.
The victim grew suspicious when the suspect continued to pressure her for sexual intimacy the following day without conducting any medical procedure. She contacted Babcock University Teaching Hospital directly and was shocked to learn that the man she believed was a surgeon was, in fact, a cleaner.
Following her report, the suspect was arrested and is currently under investigation. Police say he will be prosecuted accordingly.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, condemned the act, describing it as “heinous and predatory.” He warned that the Command would not tolerate online impostors or sexual predators. He also urged young women to remain cautious when sharing personal or medical information with strangers online.
