Amid the controversy surrounding the eventual functioning of the recently commissioned 60mw gas turbine, the state’s Information Commissioner, Hon. Koku Obiyai has assured Bayelsans and other residents in the state that the gas turbine will soon come on stream.
Hon. Koku Obiyai who gave the assurance during the monthly analysis of the state’s income and expenditure in Yenagoa also reiterated the unwavering commitment of government to prudence, accountability and open governance in the financial affairs of the state, adding that the analysis of the income and expenditure of the for the months of January, February and March are outlined.

She attributed the delay in powering the state with constance electricity through the gas turbine to some technicalities that need to be fixed, assuring that the last minute technicalities will soon be over.
The information commissioner appealed to residents in the state to exercise patience as the experts on the project are working round the clock to conclude the project.
She emphasized the resolve of the current administration to finish strong by ensuring that all ongoing projects are completed before the end of the current tenure of Gov. Douye Diri.
While breaking down the income and expenditure of the state for the months of January, the Special Adviser to Gov Diri on Treasury and Accounts, Timipre Seipolo disclosed that the Federation Allocation, FAAC and total gross receipts stood at ₦44b and the expenditure was ₦51.17b.
For the month of February, Timipre Siepolo explained that that FAAC and other gross inflow was ₦52.17b while capital and recurrent expenditure was ₦30.35b.
According to him, the FAAC allocation and gross receipts for the month of March was ₦ 49.46b and capital and recurrent expenditure stood at ₦ 30.34b.
He however opined that the state government has lived up to expectation in terms of commitment to monthly analysis of the state’s financial status.
