Bayelsa APC Chieftain Faults Nabena Over Comment on Party Implosion

A former Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Hon. Samuel Aredeh, has criticized the party’s former Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, over his recent remarks suggesting a possible implosion in the Bayelsa APC following a wave of defections.

Aredeh described Nabena’s claim as “laughable,” saying the former party spokesman no longer represents the views of APC stakeholders.

“The only thing that has imploded is Yekini Nabena’s political career,” he said. “He is a forgotten figure trying to regain relevance by attacking those who are building the APC.”

He accused Nabena of acting as a mouthpiece for former Governor Timipre Sylva and NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, alleging that his statements were influenced by their political interests.

“Nabena has allowed himself to be used like a disposable microphone by Sylva and Ogbuku,” Aredeh alleged.

According to him, the influx of new members into the APC reflects confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, rather than instability.

“The APC is not breaking; it is expanding. People are joining because they see progress and results,” Aredeh said.

He dismissed Nabena’s relevance in Bayelsa politics, claiming he lacks grassroots support and moral standing to comment on party affairs.

“Nabena couldn’t even deliver his polling unit when he was a national officer. He holds no position, commands no loyalty, and speaks for nobody but himself,” Aredeh stated.

Aredeh further alleged that Nabena’s loyalty lies outside Bayelsa, insisting he hails from Agbare in Patani Local Government Area of Delta State.

“He has no justification to speak authoritatively about Bayelsa politics,” he said.

While acknowledging ongoing internal challenges, Aredeh maintained that the APC in Bayelsa remains united and focused.

“Our focus is nation-building, not media gossip. The APC is too big to be distracted by political leftovers,” he said.

He urged party members to disregard Nabena’s comments, describing him as “a voice from the past.”

“The APC is united under President Tinubu’s leadership. Those joining the party see hope and direction. The only implosion happening is in Nabena’s own political relevance,” Aredeh added.
