Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State on Tuesday unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general election.
The endorsement followed a special stakeholders’ meeting convened by Governor Douye Diri at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall in Yenagoa.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Daniel Alabrah, said the meeting was the first expanded gathering of the party since Governor Diri became a member and leader of the APC in the state in October 2025.

At the meeting, the Senator representing Bayelsa Central, Dr. Konbowei Benson, formally moved the motion endorsing President Tinubu, which was seconded by a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly and former Deputy Governor, Peremobowei Ebebi. The motion was unanimously adopted by party stakeholders present.
Addressing party faithful, Governor Diri expressed satisfaction with the unity displayed by party members, describing the Bayelsa APC as one big family determined to work together to secure President Tinubu’s re-election. He urged members to embrace forgiveness, humility and internal cohesion, and advised those with political ambitions to suspend such aspirations for now in the interest of party stability.
“Political parties are vehicles for development. Let us truly be progressives. Whatever positions you intend to contest in the future should be put on hold. What is most important now is ensuring that President Tinubu returns for a second term,” the governor said.

The APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dennis Otiotio, said the meeting marked a turning point for the party in Bayelsa after years of fragmentation, and urged members to fully participate in the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
In their separate remarks, Senator Lokpobiri, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, former APC governorship candidate David Lyon, and Prince Ebitimi Amgbare commended Governor Diri’s inclusive leadership style, noting that it had repositioned the party for success in 2027.
The meeting also took a solemn turn when party leaders and members observed a minute of silence in honour of former Senator representing Bayelsa West in the 5th National Assembly, Senator John Brambaifa, who died on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in Abuja.
Those in attendance included the Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in the state, Dr. Dennis Otiotio; Senator representing Bayelsa East, Chief Benson Agadaga; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Sam Ogbuku; Managing Director of the Niger Delta Basin Development Authority, Prince Ebitimi Amgbare; and APC National Working Committee Ex-Officio member (South-South), Hon. Godbless Diriware, among others.
